The last page of the CD booklet shows a metaphorical empty cage. Music has no borders. An artist is someone who tries and succeeds in discovering new territories, who visits them and even who makes up new reference cages to never shut him or herself up for too long time in any of them. Flamenco is María Toledo’s life, the starting point of her Album, but art is free and its possibilities are countless.
The defining piano is combined with María Toledo’s distinct voice in this project produced by Ismael Guijarro and Pablo Cebrián.

The album starts with ‘En blanco y negro’, the story of a night of passion which changes of colour the following morning, and continues with ‘Ya no más’, the first single, whose story line (an attempt of balance between reality and desire) is clearly identifiable.

Carmen Paris collaborates on this album singing ‘No me vas a embolicar’, a song that means an interesting encounter between Flamenco and Jota (Aragonese folk song) with touches of Arabic music. ‘Con el tiempo’, with a fandango (flamenco style) time signature and a polished jazzy influence, tells the story of a past love that never went away. This same concept is repeated through the song ‘Qué dificil’, a rap sang with La Shica.

Only María’s voice and a piano recalling the ‘inesfaha’ Persian scale in ‘Dime’.‘Cada día por un camino’, an amazing Agentinian tango with Arcángel. ‘Eso me pasa’, a statement about human honesty.‘Te advierto’, an advice on a possible reunion.

The excellent idea of paying tribute to a historic Spanish pop musician, Antonio Vega, came up many moths ago when the album started to become clear. ‘Una décima de segundo’ is one of this artist’s song in which there is a space-time reflection. The album ends with a Flamenco party in Córdoba hosted by Lin Cortés, an essential genius in the Flamenco world. Diego del Morao plays the guitar in ‘Bromeo’.

This is how a break is marked in a story that has just started despite many years of experience and hard work. Anyway, if the beginning is on top-level, how is future going to be? There are no limits...
